This may turn into a whole series!
We did have a chuckle early in the sermon when I was talking a bit about Eve -- the first "Bad Girl" and how commentators of a century ago (not to mention the Church Fathers) are quick to blame all the evil in the world on Eve and "her kind". A lovely lady in our church, named Eva, spoke up and said, "But I'm good!" A good laugh is a good thing!
I've been posting the art used on our Sunday bulletins along with the sermons.
This was the second hymn the congregation sang this morning. Dan stopped playing and the entire congregation sang the last verse a cappella. It was a moment that gave many of us goosebumps. So often, the choir inspires us with a musical moment of prayer, but today, it was ALL of us.
Finally, we learn the story behind the second verse of the hymn "Come, Though Fount of Every Blessing". (In case you don't know, the words of that second verse are: "Here I raise mine Ebenezer; Hither by Thy help I'm come: And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, Safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, Wandering from the fold of God; He, to rescue me from danger, Interposed His precious blood.")
